After the long wait, Ted Lasso is finally back—and the good news is that its warmth hasn’t gone anywhere.

The new season has the familiar blend of optimism, sharp comedy and heartfelt character moments that made the series such a hit. It feels recognisably Ted Lasso, while giving its characters enough fresh challenges to keep the story moving forward.

Jason Sudeikis remains the show’s secret weapon. His performance gives Ted that same disarming combination of sincerity, awkward humour and emotional intelligence, while the returning cast once again brings plenty of personality to the pitch.

The season isn’t quite as effortlessly charming as the show’s best early episodes, and some moments feel a little too familiar. But when Ted Lasso gets the balance right, it’s still one of television’s most enjoyable reminders that kindness doesn’t have to mean being sentimental.

With the season still unfolding, it’s too early for a final verdict—but so far, Ted Lasso looks like a comeback worth cheering.

Verdict so far: 4/5
