Guam’s newest radio station, Mix96 – Guam’s Best Mix, has officially announced its new on-air format, a high-energy blend of the biggest hits since the year 2000 and today’s hottest chart-toppers. Branded as “Modern Millennium,” the format was unveiled this week by station CEO Kyle Mandapat, who calls it a fresh evolution in island radio.
“Modern Millennium is about capturing the soundtrack of a generation,” Mandapat said. “From the early 2000s anthems we grew up with to the latest songs dominating global charts, this format connects nostalgia with what’s happening right now.”
The new format positions Mix96 as a station targeting millennials, Gen Z listeners, and anyone who came of age in the 2000s. Expect to hear artists like Beyoncé, Usher, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake alongside current hitmakers such as Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo, and Bad Bunny — all seamlessly curated into one cohesive listening experience.
Mandapat explained that Modern Millennium isn’t just about playing throwbacks. “We’re not looking backward — we’re celebrating the era that shaped modern pop culture,” he said. “The 2000s redefined music across pop, hip-hop, R&B, dance, and alternative. Those influences are still driving today’s hits.”
Observers say the move distinguishes Mix96 from traditional adult contemporary and classic hits stations on Guam. Instead of leaning into the ‘80s and ‘90s or focusing solely on today’s Top 40, Modern Millennium carves out a unique lane: the post-2000 era that continues to influence streaming charts and social media trends.
Since its launch, Mix96 has quickly built momentum as Guam’s newest radio station. The Modern Millennium format signals a bold step forward as the station refines its identity and strengthens its connection to a digitally savvy audience.
Listeners can expect themed countdowns, millennium flashback weekends, and interactive programming that highlights defining moments in music from the past 25 years.
“We’re creating a space where every song feels familiar, but still fresh,” Mandapat added. “Modern Millennium is Guam’s new home for the hits that defined the 2000s and the ones defining today.”
With its updated format now live on the airwaves, Mix96 is betting that the soundtrack of the new millennium will resonate island-wide — proving that great hits don’t age, they evolve.
